Overview
BRUT/UI is a neo-brutalist component registry for shadcn, built for production applications by Akhil Panwar and Dulba Dorje. It keeps the familiar shadcn behavior and API while restyling components in three flavours: Paper, Signal and Sky. Components are built on Base UI, and accessibility is preserved from the underlying primitives.
The look is configurable rather than fixed. A theme tuner sets the flavour, one of three brutalism strengths (Soft, Solid or Loud) and one of three radius modes (Sharp, Cut or Chunky). The registry serves 59 items: a base theme with tokens and 58 primitives, and the site includes five live block compositions built from the same parts.
Features
- Three flavours: Paper, Signal and Sky palettes share one component set.
- Strength levels: Soft, Solid and Loud control border weight and shadow force.
- Radius modes: Sharp, Cut and Chunky corner treatments.
- Base theme: Project-wide tokens for flavours, strengths, radii, focus states and interaction utilities, installed automatically as a dependency.
- 58 primitives: Buttons with tactile travel, badges, checkboxes, selects, dialogs, cards, charts, carousel, combobox, command and more.
- Accessible states: Focus and invalid states stay visible, and alerts never rely on color alone.
- Blocks: Five complete interface compositions.
